Choosing the Legs - More info
As Mickele posted below, we have to figure out who will be running which legs. We still have a lot of time till the race, but we might as well know what we're in for, right? :) She posted the runner's chart below so take a look at that, but also be sure to look at the course maps for each leg since just because it's a 3 mile run, it may be 3 miles STRAIGHT uphill! There are some pretty good elevation changes on some of these legs, particularly in Van 2. Also, include all Runners you'd be willing/capable of running. Runners 1-6 will be in Van #1 and Runners 7-12 will be in Van #2. Let me know if you have any questions!

I'm still very beginner,so I would like number 8 if at all possible.
ReplyDeleteKelli you and I are going to have to do a toss up for number 8, we are going to give number 7 to mindy V. because she does not really run at all so we think that will be the easiest for her, but what about leg 12 could you do that one each one is a shorter leg, or is it more hills I have not checked out the map yet?
ReplyDeleteI'm open to pretty much any leg and Jay is too. If I'm in Van #2, I'd be willing to run #11 (that's the one I did last year) or #10 (that one includes the 'Ragnar' - 4 miles STRAIGHT up a mountain - Guardsman Pass). #9 has the 9.6 mile leg plus the 3.5 mile 'pre-Ragnar' straight up Guardsman Pass as well, but I know Jay would do that (that was his run last year). If I'm in Van #1, I'd love to be runner #1, but I'd be fine with #3 or #6 as well (I'm up to a challenge!). I know Jay would do either of those as well.
ReplyDeleteThe way it looks, 8 of us are going to have to run a 7+ mile leg, so that leaves only 4 with the shorter ones. At least 5 of us are planning on running the half marathon so it might be good to put us 5 as the longer distance runners? I know Jackie's going to want a shorter one and I think Greg might as well. If they're in Van #1, Runners #2 and #4 might be good for them.
Kelli, Runner #12 actually looked kind of fun, you get to cross the finish line! But the first leg is pretty much straight uphill up to Snowbasin. :)
I'm SO excited for this run!!! Mickele, how are you thinking we might want to split up? Probably just based on who's willing to do which legs? If nobody else responds, I say they get to run whatever we make them run! :)
Greg was hoping for leg 12, but he had a couple he was willing to do - I will ask him again. I will do legs 2 or 4 if I am in Van 1, or 7 or 12 if in Van 2. I could do whatever on the lower end though - unfortunately, I don't think I am going to be in good enough shape to do the ones I originally was planning.
ReplyDeleteIt all depends on how the vans are split up - We all need to pick at least 1 leg from each van to run, preferably 2. For example - we know that Jay and Janeal need to be in Van 2 so they can do the 2 hardest legs. Plus, Ryan and Amanda can run harder legs as well, so it would be good to have them do the other 2 harder ones in Van 2. That would put Greg and I in that van as well (if possible so we can be together). Otherwise, we will need to select the legs in Van 1, and 2 people would be with us (whomever those 2 are! - we are fun, I promise!). I think we need to pick which van we prefer to be in, and a couple legs in that van that we are able to run, then we can split it up. Legs 7 and 4 are the easiest, so MindyV gets one of those depending on which van she is in. FYI - I think Greg is going to be able to run a longer one than me. He is working really hard right now and dropping weight fairly easily. I still have a lot of weight to go and with nursing still, I am not able to lose it as fast. That kills me to say that I think he will be able to run better than me!!! :(
