Running anyone?

Due to complete and total fear of the realization that the SLC Half Marathon is in just 2 more months, I've decided it's time to start running more than once/week. To accomplish this, I think I need some motivation. Fortunately, Mickele agreed with me both on the fear and the motivation issue, so we've decided to try to run together and want anyone and everyone to come join us if they'd like. Weather permitting (we're not hard core enough to run in 20 degree temps or blizzards), we're planning on getting together at the Bountiful High School track on Saturday's at 11am. If anyone wants to join us, please come! We're just going to jog around the track for awhile and then go home. Jackie, you've already mentioned you'll come so you're committed now. And Mindy V., Mickele also committed you so it looks like you have no choice! :) So if anybody else is local to the Bountiful area, or if not but you really like commuting, come join us next Saturday.

Otherwise, how is everyone else coming with their running progress? Mindy E, you and Martin seem to run a lot. How many times/week do you run and how far do you usually go? I still don't really have a plan but I think I should come up with one since 13.1 miles is just a long ways to go!

Suggestions for the line up!

Okay if I am in Van 1 then I would like to do leg#3 if I am in Van 2 I would really like leg #8 but I could probably handle leg #12 I am not a fan of hills because they kill me with my asthma but out of any of them with hills I could probably handle Leg #12 cuz that first leg is not to long. Okay so this is just my thoughts so let me know what you all think: We can do this 2 different ways:

This is my first suggestion:
Van #1
Leg #1-Ryan or Martin you guys decide who will run 1 or 6
Leg #2-Greg
Leg #3-Amanda
Leg #4-Jackie
Leg #5-Mindy E.
Leg #6-Martin or Ryan you guys decide who will run 1 or 6

Van #2
Leg #7-Mindy V.
Leg #8-Mickele or kelli we need to decide on who will run 8 or 12
Leg #9- Jay or shane
Leg#10-Shane or Jay
Leg#11-Janeal
Leg#12-kelli or Mickele we need to decide on who will run 8 or 12

This is my second suggestion:
Van #1
Leg #1-Shane or Martin you guys decide who will run 1 or 6
Leg #2-Mindy E.
Leg #3-Mickele
Leg #4-Mindy V.
Leg #5-Kelli
Leg #6-Martin or Shane you guys decide who will run 1 or 6.

Van #2
Leg #7-Jackie
Leg #8-Amanda
Leg #9-Jay or Ryan you guys decide who will run 9 or 10
Leg#10-Ryan or Jay you guys decide who will run 9 or 10
Leg#11-Janeal
Leg#12-Greg

Honestly I think all the guys are going to be able to run whatever leg we throw at them because they are guys and for some reason guys have it easier when it comes to running and I know once shane gets his butt in gear on running he will be fine to do any leg and same with Jay so anyways look over what I have suggested and let me know what you all think.

Jackie can you send this email on to Ryan & Amanda so they can see what they think and hopefully they will be okay with what I have suggested.

K guys I need you all to email back on this with feedback so we can get this figured out so everyone can kind of have an idea of what they should be training for. If I don't get any responses then I am just going to assume that you are all okay with what I have put down here and I will make the final decision so we can start training cuz believe me this is going to be along couple of days hehehe.

thanks
mickele

Choosing the Legs - More info

As Mickele posted below, we have to figure out who will be running which legs. We still have a lot of time till the race, but we might as well know what we're in for, right? :) She posted the runner's chart below so take a look at that, but also be sure to look at the course maps for each leg since just because it's a 3 mile run, it may be 3 miles STRAIGHT uphill! There are some pretty good elevation changes on some of these legs, particularly in Van 2. Also, include all Runners you'd be willing/capable of running. Runners 1-6 will be in Van #1 and Runners 7-12 will be in Van #2. Let me know if you have any questions!

From Mickele...

YAY, we're all registered!!! :) Janeal doesn't mind logging in and updating everybody's information, . The cost is $100/person so it was $1200 total. She doesn't actually have to pay for it until Feb. so that gives you all a month to get the money to her. We will eventually need some more information from each runner, but we can wait until they pay first and then get it, we've got lots of time still. :) if you need Janeal's address to send her the money let me know or you can give the money to me and I will get it to her either way.

We also need to come up with a team name so everyone needs to email Janeal and I some ideas and we can go from there k. I will let you know when we need the rest of the info from everyone and we will also need to decide who wants to run what leg, I will attach the legs to this email and just email me back on what you think you would be capable of running now this doesn't mean you will for sure get that leg but we will try to accomodate everyone its also going to depend on who is in what vehicle on which legs you kind of get. There is also a link to the map of each leg so check it out and then email me a few of the legs you think you could handle running and then we can figure everyone's legs out.

thanks
Mickele

SLC Half Marathon and 5K?

So before the Wasatch Back, I've signed up to run the SLC Half Marathon in April. I'm pretty sure at least 4 of you (Mickele, Jay, MindyE and Kelli) are planning on running it too, right? And Jackie, Greg and MindyV, are you all planning on running the 5K still? Since that race is much sooner than the Wasatch Back, I feel like I need to start preparing for it now. I'm just starting to run again after not running for awhile and I'm wondering how you are all training? Particularly for the half marathon, are you following a training program? If so, which one? So far, I'm just trying to run 3 miles straight without feeling like it's torture... 13.1 miles just sounds like a really really long distance and it scares me! :)

Yay, we've registered for the Wasatch Back!!!

K, so we are all committed here to run the Wasatch Back this summer. I am so excited! :) Kelli gave the idea of starting a blog for our team in order to get information out and since we obviously still have a bit of time left (like almost 6 months), I thought it might be a fun idea. And since I have not updated my own blog since last May or something like that, then who better to start one...

Anyways, here's a little bit of information about what it is we are doing: The race is on June 18th-June 19th. We have 12 people on our team, they are:
Mickele Mills <-- Our Team Captain!
Mindy Varney
JaNeal LaVanway
Jay LaVanway
Shane Bawden
Kelli Frazier
Mindy Eyre
Martin Eyre
Jackie Johnson
Greg Johnson
Ryan Johnson
Amanda Johnson

We'll be divided up into 2 groups of 6 people each and we will each run 3 legs varying in distance from 2.5 - 9.6 miles, running from Logan to Park City a total of 188 miles. We do need a Team Name. Right now, we are Team 775 AKA Team RunAway but let's see who can come up with a better name. Post any suggestions!!! Their website is: http://www.blogger.com/www.ragnarrelay.com/wasatchback/

All right, that's all for now, I'm posting a video of last year's Wasatch Back race that they have on their website. Enjoy!
